About Us

Base Beauty, the omni-channel creative agency dedicated to the beauty and wellness industries, was founded in 2007 by long time industry pioneer and beauty expert, Jodi Katz.

Jodi Katz, Founder & Creative Director

Best known for her role as the first US Creative Director of L’Occitane en Provence, Jodi built and led the global integrated creative department for four years. While at L’Occitane, she honed her brand building skills and developed a desire to collaborate with, nurture and grow innovative beauty brands.

For over 10 years Jodi has proven that a next-gen agency structure really works—while based in New York City, Base Beauty functions daily as a virtual business led by seasoned beauty professionals with significant in-house and agency experience. The agency’s groundbreaking strategic marketing, content creation, packaging design and advertising for leading brands big, such as Clinique, Conair and L’Oreal Paris, and small, like Au Naturale Cosmetics and Farmaesthetics—among many others—proves that Base Beauty’s accomplishments go hand-in-hand with her team’s life/work balance.

In 2017, to celebrate 10 years in business, Jodi launched the popular podcast series, WHERE BRAINS MEET BEAUTY™ on iTunes and GooglePlay. In the series, Jodi leads one-on-one interviews with beauty execs and entrepreneurs, sharing their wisdom and fascinating personal journeys.

Jodi’s beauty focus and expertise was featured prominently in the entrepreneurial business book, The Big Enough Company: Creating a Business that Works for You. She is the 2017 recipient of the Enterprising Women of the Year Award and frequent moderator and panelist at industry events.

Base Beauty is an independent and privately owned agency, certified by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC).
