Through my board position on Girls Helping Girls. Period. I met the founder of Aunt Flow. Aunt Flow is committed to ensuring everyone has access to menstrual products. For every 10 tampons and pads sold, Aunt Flow donates one to an organization that supplies products to menstruators who need them.
Menstrual products are not covered by food stamps. No one should EVER be forced to choose between food and tampons. And while toilet paper is provided for free in restrooms, menstrual supplies often are not supplied, an obstacle for all menstruating people, not just those in financial need.
To help Aunt Flow end period poverty we have installed an Aunt Flow dispenser in our restroom that is stocked with the brand’s 100% natural cotton pads and tampons — no synthetics, chemicals or dyes are used in the production of their products. While for practical purposes there is no real need for us to have a dispenser on the wall, as it’s just as easy for us to stock our drawers, I thought that the dispenser makes a strong visual statement about the importance of restrooms offering free menstrual products.
Now, anyone who visits our restroom will see our commitment to menstrual health.
